Elkins and Preston Present Honduran President with ‘Lost City of the Monkey God’

On Monday February 27, 2017, author Doug Preston and explorer/filmmaker Steve Elkins had the honor of meeting with the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, to present him with a copy of The Lost City of the Monkey God. The book, which was accepted by President Hernández on behalf of all Hondurans, details the search for the lost city of Ciudad Blanca in the Honduran jungles of La Mosquitia. US Ambassador James Nealon hosted the presentation, which included various media outlets as well as many dignitaries, at his official residence.

The Lost City of the Monkey God has made a big impression on the Honduran press, who view the book as a fascinating window into the unique archeological treasures buried within Honduras’ little explored rainforests. Thanks to the efforts of Steve and his co-director Bill Benenson, the undisclosed location housing the purported lost city of La Ciudad Blanca will be preserved for the scientific community to explore and study for generations to come. The Lost City of the Monkey God documentary film is currently in post-production, with an anticipated release date in early 2018.
