Bill Benenson to exec produce ‘HARRIET’, a feature film about the extraordinary life of Harriet Ross Tubman

Bill Benenson has signed on as executive producer of Harriet, a feature film about the extraordinary life of Harriet Ross Tubman. Tubman recently made headlines when she was selected to be featured on the twenty dollar bill, becoming the first African American on any US currency.  Benenson Productions will once again team up with New Balloon, its collaborator on Beasts of No Nation. Tubman, largely known as one of the prominent “conductors” of the Underground Railroad which helped free thousands of slaves, was born into slavery in 1820.  Her astonishing contributions expanded to many areas including the fight against injustice and women’s right to vote.
